Refund not received? What to do next in the UK
Most missing refunds are sorted by chasing the business with the right details to hand. If that doesn't work, your card provider may be the next step.
Start with your records and the business
Keep the order confirmation, receipt, any refund promise, and the dates. Contact the business first and ask when the refund was issued and to which card or account.
If the business won't refund or doesn't resolve it
Depending on your card and payment type, you may be able to ask your card provider about chargeback or Section 75. Neither is guaranteed, and eligibility depends on the details of your purchase.
- MoneyHelper describes chargeback as a card-scheme process rather than legal protection, commonly with a 120-day claim window.
- Section 75 can apply to qualifying credit card purchases costing over £100 and up to £30,000.
